Dan De Vos is a member of the Patent Practice Group. Dan is a registered patent attorney whose practice focuses on counseling in connection with Intellectual Property matters at start-up, mid-sized, and Fortune 100 companies. He provides a broad range of patent related services including managing patent portfolio development (drafting and prosecuting patent applications and reexaminations); conducting offensive and defensive patent reviews; rendering opinions on third party patents; preparing and prosecuting reexams; and providing technical support during litigation (e.g., drafting expert reports, technology tutorials, interrogatories).

“Working with a variety of different technologies and different companies, I enjoy being counsel to start-ups through acquisition or IPO (e.g., Valicert, Inc., Malleable Technologies, Inc., Cavium Networks, Inc.), as well as supporting in-house counsel of larger corporations. While the technology is interesting and exciting, the people are even more so. I find my work enjoyable and rewarding.”

Testimonials:

• Below is a note an existing client sent to Ed Taylor of Blakely, Sokoloff, Taylor and Zafman LLP (bracketed material signifies changes to the original note):

"I just can't tell you how much I enjoy working with Dan DeVos. He's absolutely top shelf in every respect. His applications are superior, he understands claim strategy and drafting, he is highly responsive, very helpful, friendly, professional, and so forth. And by the way, I asked [inventor's name redacted] which attorneys he enjoys working with…, and the first name out of his mouth was DeVos. (And [inventor's name redacted] can be a pretty harsh critic; he doesn't suffer fools very well.) Give that man a big pat on the back from a very happy client."

• Below is a note from a start-up company who is a client:

“…We feel lucky to have you on our team. We are in negotiations to be represented by a very well known Open Source corporate lawyer, and it was great to see the expression of approval on his face when we told him that you were handling our patents.”

• Below is a note from a start-up company who is a client:

“We were very impressed with how quickly the BSTZ team came up to speed on our technology and then helped us to accurately capture our ideas in our applications.”
